Zur Schlupp Restaurant in Walluf

We had made a reservation, came with our little bitch who disappears under every chair and with whom it has never been a problem in the Rheingau. At first they looked funny, then asked if we had registered them (we didn't, but were not asked and we never had to) and then they said we can't stay if the dog stays in the car (it was very cold the evening). It's a shame, but we're not going here any more!

It was a nice warm summer day and we wanted to sit outside. The telephone reservation for four people was no problem. When we entered the courtyard and were assigned a table, the waitress noticed our little dog. Thereupon she asked quite rude if we have registered the dog. I said no. Would I have to? Yes! Then she replied snippily. I do not know that, I said. Yes, unfortunately! Came in response. I could not find any indication that you have to register dogs. Even with the reservation you were not asked for a four-legged friend. We had a very nice evening, but not in the "GASTHAUS" To Schlupp.

That's good gastronomy at fair prices and I had the tenderest rump steak ever, more at fillet level. Madness. We'll be back and do a lot of advertising.

The small inn "Zur Schlupp" is located in the middle of Walluf prominently on the main road near the Rhine. It serves down-to-earth, good German cuisine with a Mediterranean touch. The restaurant can be found as a building since as early as 1608 in old Ortsgemarkungen. Until the end of the 19th century It was run as a bakery and served as a stop for the boatmen from the Rhine. Schlupp stands for a sloop (a small boat, which used to be towed along the towpath with horses). The map is clear. Also offered are menus. A highlight is the wine list, filled with great wines from the Rheingau. The service is very friendly. In summer, the courtyard also invites you to linger. Conclusion: A great inn at the beginning of the Rheingau. Extremely popular. A reservation is necessary.
